As you begin your wellness journey with Cardio Sport, it is important to start with how we deliver our workout experience. Traditional fitness programs use an auditory instructional technique in their training. Think about how the instructor often wears a microphone in class, yelling out cues, motivation sets and reps etc. Traditional fitness establishes an environment of predictability through pre-determined counts.
The Sport based athletic mindset thrives off the ability to adapt. On the playing field, an athlete is faced with an ever changing environment. Often times their ability to hear instructions is reduced based on many factors such as fatigue, focus, and external factors such as crowd noise, weather conditions etc. In addition, athletes will have quicker reaction times based on what they see vs what they hear.
This is where "VISUAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT" plays a critical role. All of our instructors will deliver a Visual Learning instruction. They will limit their auditory commands to reference points meaning when you hear them, they are really trying to just get you to look up as a transition is coming. This is also why our instructors will consistently perform the movement throughout a sequence compared to listing the exercise and rep counts. I'll get to those counts later.
Transitioning from an auditory fitness instruction to a visual learning environment can be challenging for some participants. We get that and have created some additional trainings under the "Resistance Hybrids" section that will use an auditory instruction to help with that transition.
So in short, focus on what you SEE, not what you HEAR. Your reaction times will improve, your ability to adapt quickly will improve and most importantly you will always be ready to take that pass and score that game winning goal!
